General info: Ultramodern KLIA, which was inaugurated in 1998, is one of the major gateways of Asia. The complex covers 100 square kilometres of land area.

Airport layout: Main terminal building, satellite terminal building and budget airlines terminal.

Runway layout: 14L/32R and 14R/32L, both 13,100ft (4000m) long.

Spotting: There are a couple of locations at KUL to spot and photograph aircraft, and generally there will be no problems with security. KUL is a huge airport and the best way to reach the spots is by car.

• A - The airside of the main terminal building offers some good photo opportunities for the main apron.
• B - This is a good location to view both 14L arrivals and 32R departures.
• C - Here you will find an observation hill with views of Rwy 14L/32R and the satellite terminal.
• D - Cargo and maintenance aprons.
• E - Threshold of Rwy 32L.
• F - Near the meteorological station; good for Rwy 14R arrivals and 32L departures.
• G - Threshold of 14R and overview of the main apron.
